Instructor: Heather Wagner
Dates: Saturday, November 11 & 18
Class Size: 6
Skill Level: Beginner
All materials are included!
Have you ever had trouble finding that perfect yarn for your project? Have you ever wished you had the skills needed to dye your own yarn? Well this is the class for you. Learn to dye three different yarns for The Doodler or any project.
In this class you will learn 3 different dying techniques to create 3 very different skeins of yarn. We will learn kettle dyeing for vibrant tonal yarns, we will learn Space dyeing for gorgeous variegated yarns, and we learn Speckle dyeing for a yarn that is a one of a kind masterpiece. We will be using professional acid dyes that are washfast and color fast. Basic color theory and safety precautions will be covered to insure your dyeing is both lovely and safe.
High heats and near-boiling water will be used so this class is not appropriate for children under the age of 16.
Class includes 3 skeins of fingering weight SW Merino Yarn as well as all materials needed to dye. Please wear clothes you don’t mind staining.
Homework: Think about what colors you would like dye. A theme or starting color will really help.
Beginner - you have no experience with the technique or skills, the class is designed to teach you the basics.
Intermediate – you have some experience and confidence with the technique or skills, but need a bit more practice, you’re ready to take your skills to the next level.
Advanced – you know how to read patterns and understanding how the stitch is made; you know what you are doing. You are ready for a challenge and to learn new techniques and skills.
NOTE: The cost of the class does not include materials or patterns so these must be purchased separately. We are more than happy to help you choose the proper materials listed for each class for which you will receive a 10% discount. Please be sure to make your purchases prior to class to avoid any delay in start time.
