Description: Mosaic knitting is a technique using slipped stitches to create beautiful, intricate-looking multicolor fabric. Its appearance is similar to Fair Isle knitting, but is worked using a single color per row. Three fabric types can be formed depending upon the stitches used on wrong side rows. In this class we will make swatches of each fabric type.

Materials Yarn:

20 yards of six different colored worsted weight yarn. These should be separated into three pairs with a dark and light color in each pair.

Needles: US Size 8 (5.0mm) needles. Notions: Three stitch holders or scrap yarn for holding stitches.

Pattern: Will be provided to you in class.

Class preparation:

Swatch #1: With light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, CO 15 stitches. Knit three rows. Purl the next row. Slip stitches onto stitch holder, leaving yarn attached.
