Color My Cowl-An Introduction to Stranded Colorwork- July 8 & August 7
Instructor: Doris Lewis
Dates: Saturday, July 8 and August 7
Skill Level: Intermediate
Skills needed: Knit, some experience knitting in the round is helpful, but not essential.
Skills taught: Crochet Provisional Cast-on, Color Stranding, Kitchener Stitch
This class is a good introduction to color stranding knitting (the generic form of Fair Isle knitting) or a bit of fun if you’re experienced with color stranding. The coloring page is a super ‘blank canvas’ for testing color combinations. The pattern can be worked in as few as two colors or as many as seven, but is especially suited for three or five colors. The construction of the cowl uses the crochet provisional cast-on, is worked in the round, and is joined together with the Kitchener Stitch for a seamless result. The cowl is designed to be wrapped around the neck twice, but can be shortened for use as a single wrap.
Yarn: Wool or wool blend worsted weight yarn 400 yards of main color; 200 yards each of the remaining colors Class sample is knit with Berroco Vintage.
Needles: 2 Sets U.S. Size 7 16-inch circular needle
