Date: Sunday, November 3, 10, 17, 24, & December 1
Skill Level: This class is for intermediate to advanced knitters.
November is National Knit a Sweater In a Month (aka NatKniSweMo) month. We are celebrating by knitting Humulus, by Isabell Kraemer. We are cheating a bit by ending on December 1, but we're not starting until November 3, so it's still within a month!
Humulus (the botanical name for hops) is a lovely sweater that celebrates the elegant hop flower, its flavours and its decorative qualities. The plant is described variously as zesty, piney, earthy and floral. This sweater encompasses all of these with its delicate colourwork pattern knitted in a warm and slightly rustic yarn. It is like being wrapped in a hug
Humulus is worked seamlessly from the top down. First some Short Rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the round- yoke is worked top down to sleeve separation. Some last short-rows are worked to finish the yoke shaping right before
sleeve stitches are placed on hold, then the body is worked in rounds down to the hem. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last.
Materials needed are worsted weight yarn (check pattern for requirements for your size), Size 5 UScircular needles in 16" and 32" lengths, size 6 US circular needles in 24" and 32" lengths, stitch holders or waste yarn, stitch markers, tapestry needle, and blocking tools.
Pattern is available from Ravelry or at the shop.
